Replacing a Hotpoint/Indesit Dryer Start Switch

Welcome to BuySpares. In this video we will show you how to replace a start switch on a Creda, Hotpoint or Indesit tumble dryer.

Important: Before replacing a part in any electrical appliance, you must ensure that the appliance is first unplugged from the mains.

This switch does not latch, but controls a relay or door switch.

If your dryer will only run when the start button is pressed the fault is likely to be due to this relay module and is shown in another video.

Start by removing the top. Take out the two screws and slide the lid back.

If stuck give a thump on the front edge to release it.

On condenser dryers remove the container and then the screws to remove the front panel.

    Prise the timer knob off.

Carefully ease out the start button, then lift the panel off and release the switch by squeezing these barbs.

This will allow you to push the switch back through the panel.

Then push the new switch into position and transfer the wires.

Refit the front panel. Refit the timer knob and then the container.

Finally, fit the top and its screws before running a test cycle if required.
