How to Replace a Hoover Door Seal

    Video Transcript: How to Replace a Hoover Door Seal

    Welcome to BuySpares.

    In this video we will show you how to replace a door seal on a Hoover washing machine.

    Important: Before replacing a part in any electrical appliance, you must ensure that the appliance is first unplugged from the mains.

    Door seals can be damaged or covered in mould and bacteria making them unsightly, if yours is not as bad as this you can clean the mould bacteria and also prevent it from building by following informational in our video “How to Cure a Smelly Washing Machine”. But if yours is damaged or discoloured like this you may need to replace it.

    If you cannot remove the front this machine to help when replacing seal so you have to replace the door seal through the door. You can do this in the upright position and if required remove the door to improve the access.

    To start you need to remove the outer retaining band, you can do this by using a flat head screwdriver. These can be fragile so don't try and undo it until it's removed, just prise it off and then unclip it.

    Next remove the door seal away from the lip all the way around, and then push it inside the drum. Then take the top of the machine so you can see the inner entertaining band – this machine has a screw retaining band, simply loosen the clamp screw and lift the seal up and away from the drum.

    With the new door seal check it has some lubricant around the inner lip that connects the drum, and if required use some washing up liquid this just helps it to slip on easily. To fit the door seal should be indicated marks in this case a mark at the top and a hole the bottom. Pop the door seal inside the door you're ready to fit.

    Once your new door seal is in place you just need to push onto the drum like the old one, then refit the clamp band working it around the drum, then re tighten the bolt.

    Fit the outer rim of the door seal around the rim on the front panel, then reattach the outer retaining band. Check the door closes correctly and run a rinse cycle to check for leaks.
