Video Transcript: How to Remove a Soap Dispenser From a Dishwasher

If the soap dispenser in your dishwasher is broken, you'll need to replace it with a new one, and to do this, you'll first need to dismantle the dishwasher door.

IMPORTANT: BEFORE REPLACING A PART IN ANY ELECTRICAL APPLIANCE, YOU MUST ENSURE THAT THE APPLIANCE IS FIRST UNPLUGGED FROM THE MAINS.

Open the door fully and remove the screws from round the edge - remember to put them somewhere safe so you can replace them later. Be very careful to keep hold of the door as you unscrew to make sure it doesn't fall away.

Carefully place the front of the door down, taking care of any sharp edges especially around the inside section of the door. You'll have to disconnect some of the wires to get easy access to the components, take a photo of the location of the wires so you know where to replace them later.

The soap dispenser is held on by 6 screws, 3 on top and 3 on the bottom. Remove these screws and place them somewhere safe.

Before you take the old dispenser out, you need to remove the metal clamps from the top and bottom.

Pull the dispenser assembly out from the inside of the door, and replace it with the new dispenser. Hold the dispenser securely in place while you replace the metal clamps at the top and bottom.

Replace the six screws and the job is done.

To fit the door back together, first plug the wires back in making sure they're replaced in the correct formation.

Carefully push the two halves of the door back together and rest them back down, holding them together so the inner section doesn't pop back up.

Replace the screws around the edges and screw them back on tightly.

To prevent injury from exposed sharp edges wear work gloves
