Video Transcript: How to Replace a Steam Cleaner Safety Cap

Welcome to BuySpares. In this video we'll be showing you how to remove and replace a faulty Steam Cleaner safety cap.

Important: Before replacing a part in any electrical appliance you must ensure that the appliance is first disconnected from the mains.

Safety caps are designed to not allow you to open the cleaner when it is hot to prevent injury.

Removal can be very difficult if it fails.

When faulty the cap will turn and won't engage with the valve and won't unscrew as there is a clutch that is opened if the tank is pressurized.

This valve can get blocked with corrosion or lime-scale preventing it being removed.

If jammed it may be necessary to break the top of the cap by striking the cap with a sideways blow.

The cap will break turn and repeat until the cap comes off.

The top of the piston can then be pushed back down.

Reassemble the cap to unscrew and remove it.

it is recommended to replace the cap with a new one if it is jammed, as it is likely to stick again.
