Ceramic hob tops are a beautiful and clean way of cooking and look fantastic in any kitchen. However they can soon develop marks and look dirty, so it is important to know how to maintain them to keep them looking at their best.
Obviously, the best way to keep your ceramic hob clean is to not let food and liquids spill onto the surface and burn, so wipe these away as soon as they occur with a clean dry cloth. Cover frying pans with lids or splatter screen guards and do try to avoid saucepans boiling over.
To tackle burnt-on marks from food, first use a sharp flat edge bladed tool (for example Wellco Professional Ceramic Hob Scraper.
Remove as much of the deposit from the hob surface by sliding the scraper across the top. Make sure the blade you use is in good condition, otherwise, it could scratch the hob.
After scraping the hob, use a non-abrasive cream cleaner such as the Wellco Professional Ceramic Hob Cleaner to clean off the burnt residue. Apply a small amount of the cleaner directly onto the stain, then it leave for ten minutes to start to break down the marks before rubbing it with a clean cloth in a swirling or rotary motion. When the mark has gone, polish off the residue with a clean area of the cloth.
Any surface scratches may be polished using a metal polish or cutting paste with a polishing mop on an electric drill.
It's important to note that many ceramic hobs have cooking zone markings on the surface of the hob, so take care when cleaning near these markings as they may polish off.
