Hoover Drum Paddle

The Drum Paddle is used to lift clothes in your washing machine as the drum is turning, allowing the detergent to distribute so the clothes can be cleaned thoroughly.

It is a triangular prism shaped piece of plastic with holes in, although on some models they can be metal and fits on the inside of the drum where you place your clothes, circulating them correctly. There are typically 3 or 4 in the machine, and they are the raised attachments that you can remove to check for missed socks and other items that can slip into the crevices of the drum.

The following faults typically indicate a problem with the drum paddle:

o One of the paddles has come out in the washing
o The drum paddle has smashed or cracked
o Your clothes are getting ripped during the wash.
*Remember that a broken drum paddle may not be the only fault that can cause these issues to arise.

A broken drum paddle is a very common washing machine fault. It is not a consumable part and therefore it only needs to be changed if it has come off or broken. Make sure that you order the correct drum paddle for your model of washing machine. Colours tend to vary, but this does not matter. There are a number of factors that can cause a drum lifter to break. Mainly, it is due to misplaced items being put into the machine. Another factor is if they are not fitted securely, or the wrong ones are fitted.
