Universal Microwave Waveguide Cover
The purpose of a microwave waveguide cover is to shield the opening through which the microwaves enter the oven cavity. Microwaves are produced by the Magnetron behind the control panel and the waveguide cover prevents food particles and moisture getting into the internal workings of the microwave. During use or cleaning your waveguide cover can become damaged and may need to be replaced.
When to replace a microwave waveguide cover
It is possible that your waveguide cover can become damaged during normal use. Over time the waveguide cover can absorb, or become splattered by fat or food. This may cause the cover to become soft, overly-flexible or even overheat/burn, causing sparking around the waveguide cover during use. You need to replace the waveguide cover if it has fallen off, has a hole in it, or has any signs of burning or damage.
How to replace a faulty waveguide cover
The waveguide cover will be located on the inside of the microwave oven. It will usually be on the right-hand side or in the roof of the microwave, held by a couple fo retaining screws. To replace it, firstly ensure that the microwave is unplugged from the power supply and remove the damaged waveguide. Cut the replacement waveguide cover to size and screw in place.
Universal cover can be trimmed to fit most models
This Electruepart Universal Waveguide Cover Liner is suitable for most brands of microwave. It measures 500mm by 300mm and is designed to be 'cut-to-size'. It is fairly easy to cut using sharp scissors or a craft knife; you may even be able to use your old waveguide cover as a template if it is still intact.
Although the size of the waveguide cover varies between microwave models, many domestic microwaves will have covers of around 100mm by 60mm, so you may be able to reuse this sheet several times.
