Video Transcript: Important Tumble Dryer Safety Information (Fire Risk)

Welcome to BuySpares, in this video we'll talk about tumble dryer safety.

Important: Before replacing a part in any electrical appliance, you must ensure that the appliance is first disconnected from the mains.

There have been safety warnings in the news recently about the danger of some tumble dryers catching fire.

Because of their nature it is important to regularly check and clean your dryer or lint and fluff may make it through the machine onto the heater and potentially cause a problem.

By following this video we hope to help our customers stop any problems and be able to reduce the chance of any problems arising.

Most machines have lint or fluff filters above the condenser here.

When removing this fluff if you're not careful it may fall down this duct into the condenser below.

If the filter is damaged or if left this can build up and blow through onto the heater.

So when removing be careful to lift as much as possible and try to prevent any fluff falling through to the condenser.

Use a vacuum to regularly clean any lint from the duct.

Before every use clean the fluff from the filter. A blocked filter reduces airflow and can result in lint escaping from around the drum edge into the cabinet, again increasing the risk of a fire.

Clean the condenser once a month by standing it upright and pouring water through it to flush out any lint.

Every year remove the top of the appliance to check if excess fluff is building inside. Clean this out if required.

Never leave tumble dryers running when you go to bed or unattended as you will not be aware of any problems.

By following our advice your tumble dryer should continue to give years of use without any problems.
