    Vacuum Cleaner Belt

Step-by-Step Guide to Replacing a Vacuum Cleaner Drive Belt:

    1) Safety first: unplug the vacuum from the power supply.

    2) Turn the vacuum upside down to give access to the brush bar (agitator), before removing the housing that holds the brush bar in place. You will need to remove the retaining screws.

    3) Look to see if the belt has completely broken or worn loose. If it hasn't snapped it will be looped around the agitator brush and motor drive shaft.

    4) You will need to pull out the agitator brush to remove the belt. This is done by releasing the ends of the bar from the slots in the vacuum base.

    5) You will need to pull out the agitator brush to remove the belt. This is done by releasing the ends of the bar from the slots in the vacuum base.

    6) Fit the new belt. The easiest way to do this is to slide the belt on to the drive shaft first and then the agitator brush.

    7) Once the belt is looped securely on both parts refit the agitator into the vacuum base. You may need to stretch the belt to do this.

    8) Refit the vacuum house and screw, plug in and test.
