How to replace a laptop battery in 8 easy steps

    If the battery in your laptop no longer provides the power you need or the time between charges has dramatically reduced, then it's time to replace it. Laptop batteries are easy to change and the process should only take a few minutes.

    Here's how to change a laptop battery:

    1. Turn off the laptop and disconnect from the mains power supply
    2. Flip the laptop over and locate the battery
    3. The battery will usually be held in place by a catch or clip
    4. Release the catch and remove the battery from its compartment
    5. Fit the new battery into the compartment, taking care not to touch the connectors
    6. Tighten the catch or clip back into place
    7. Connect the laptop to the power supply using the AC adaptor
    8. Allow the battery to charge fully
