How to Replace a Faulty Washing Machine Mains Filter

    A mains filter is fitted to most washing machines to ensure interference from the electric motors is not allowed to be passed through the supply to other devices causing noise. If the filter fails it can cause fuse blowing or tripping of the RCD in your fuse board. This video shows how to replace a faulty filter.

    Welcome to BuySpares. in this video we will be showing how to replace a mains filter in a Hoover washing machine.

    Important: before replacing a part in any electrical appliance, you must ensure that the appliance is first disconnected from the mains.

    Start by undoing the screws to take off the top cover.

    Lift the cover away and locates the filter on the back.

    Undo the mounting screws and carefully lift away from the back.

    Examine it for signs of burning, damage, blistering or leaking fluid.If any damages is found

    Or the filter shows resistance from any connection to the earth less than two mega ohms then replace it by transferring the wires one at a time.

    Refit the filter to the cabinet.

    Then refit the top cover before retrying the appliance and checking the fuse if required.
