How to Remove and Replace the Battery on a Gtech Sweeper

    The following is a description for removing and replacing the battery in a Gtech SW02 sweeper.

    Gtech Battery

    The battery in your Gtech sweeper won't last forever and you will need to know how to remove it in order to fit a replacement or dispose of it properly.

    Battery replacement should only be attempt by a DIY competent person and always make safety your first priority. If you are unsure, get a professional to complete the repair for you.

    How to Replace a Gtech Sweeper Battery:

    1. Ensure the sweeper is fully off and not connected to the charger.

    2. Disconnect the handle and remove the dust tray to make the unit easier to manoeuvre.

    3. Flip the unit over, taking care to avoid accidentally turning it on.

    4. Locate the battery cover, it will be held in place by a retaining screw.

    5. Using a Philips screwdriver, remove the cover.

    6. The next step is to remove the Gtech battery, take care as it will still be attached by the connectors.

    7. Slide the plastic cover off the (-) cable connector, then push the latch on the connector and pull the connector off the battery contact. This step should then be repeated for the (+) cable connector.

    8. You are now in a position to dispose of the worn out battery and begin fitting the replacement.

    9. Carefully push the cable connectors on to the new battery contacts and then slide the connector covers into place.

    10. Fit the new battery and screw the battery cover back in place.

    Warning: Never touch both the metal battery contacts at the same time with any metal objects as this may create sparks that can cause small burns. You should also never use the sweeper in a semi-assembled state.
