How to Replace a Hotpoint Dryer Door Lock Switch

    The door switch on some Hotpoint , Indesit or Creda tumble dryers has a relay that latches to keep the power on. If this fails the machine may star when pressing the button but not continue if you release it.If this is your problem replacing the door lock may repair your dryer.

    How to Replace a Hotpoint Dryer Door Switch

    Welcome to BuySpares. In this video we will show how to change a door switch relay on a Creda, Hotpoint or Indesit Tumble dryer.

    Important: Before replacing a part in any electrical appliance, you must ensure that the appliance is first unplugged from the mains.

    If the relay fails you may find your dryer will only run when the start button is held if this happens it is likely the relay needs replacing.

    Remove the top off by taking out these screws,if the top is stuck strike the front edge to loosen and slide back to release.

    On condenser dryers take the container out and unscrew the front panel.

    Prise the timer knob off and disconnect the switch wires.

    Remove the switch by pushing the clip and tilting back,then release the cable clip and slide the switch to the right tilting to lift it out.

    Change the wires to the new switch and fit into position remembering the cable clip.

    Refit the wires on the switches and then the panel.

    Refit the timer knob and then the container.

    Finally screw the top on before running a test cycle.
