IMPORTANT: BEFORE REPLACING A PART IN ANY ELECTRICAL APPLIANCE, YOU MUST ENSURE THAT THE APPLIANCE IS FIRST UNPLUGGED FROM THE MAINS.

If you need to replace the door catch on your dishwasher, you'll first need to dismantle the dishwasher door.

Open the door fully and remove the screws from round the edge - remember to put them somewhere safe so you can replace them later. Be very careful to keep hold of the door as you unscrew to make sure it doesn't fall away.

Carefully place the front of the door down, taking care of any sharp edges especially around the inside section of the door. Wearing work gloves will help to prevent injury from sharp edges exposed when removing the door panels.

You'll have to disconnect some of the wires to get easy access to the components. Take a photo of the location of the wires so you know where to replace them later.

You'll see the door catch here at the top. Remove the two screws that are holding it on and place them somewhere safe. Take the new door catch and, holding it in place, replace the screws securely.

To fit the door back together, firstly plug the wires back in making sure they're replaced in the correct formation.

Carefully push the two halves of the door back together and rest them back down, holding them together so the inner section doesn't pop back up.

Replace the screws around the edges and screw them back on tightly.
