How to Perform a Washing Machine Service Wash

Listed below is the method of how to perform a service wash and its benefits for your machine and washing.

For information on how to tackle and resolve faults and problems on a wide range of appliances see our other articles »

    washing machine

It is recommended to put your washing machine through a service wash approximately once a month in order to prevent the growth of bacteria, which leads to mould and bad smells.

If you use a detergent and limescale remover, it will also help to combat and prevent the build-up of limescale, which can cause damage to your washing machine's internal components.

To perform a service wash you'll need a sachet of Buyspares Limescale & Detergent Remover. If you are having particular problems with mould or smells, you can use 2 or 3 sachets.

Empty the sachet(s) into the detergent drawer, and run your washing machine on an empty wash, selecting the hottest possible setting. Do not select a pre-wash as this will empty the machine before the main wash starts.

Try to repeat this on a monthly basis to prevent any attacks of mould or limescale in your washing machine.
