Video Transcript: How to Replace a Washing Machine Door Handle (Indesit)

Welcome to Buyspares. In this video we will show you how to replace an Indesit washing machine door handle..

Important: before replacing a part in any electrical appliance, you must ensure that the appliance is first disconnected from the mains.

If the handle on the door of your washing machine seems loose and no longer opens the door it is likely it is broken and requires replacement.

If the door is shut and will not open remove the top.

and push the locking hook in the centre of the lock in the opening direction to release the door.

To replace the handle move the door from the machine by taking out the two hinge screws.

Lay the door on a soft surface and remove all the screws holding the two halves together.

Carefully prise the two halves apart and take a photo of the catch assembly.

Slide the pivot pin out to release the catch spring and handle.

To reassemble start sliding the pivot through the frame then one side of the handle and spring and ensure it passes through and the parts are aligned.

Partially remove the pivot until the latch hook will clear it but the spring is still fixed by the pin.

Squeeze the hook between the spring bar and the side of the handle.

And once located push the pivot fully through.

Check that operating the handle moves the catch away from its hook side and it returns to the locked direction when released.

Refit the other half of the door frame and ensure the glasses in the correct position.

Refit the door and hinged to the Machine and check it operates correctly.
