How to fit a new turntable motor in a microwave

If the turntable in your microwave oven has stopped revolving then it is likely to be a faulty motor causing the problem. A revolving turntable is essential to ensure that food is cooked evenly and the motor can easily be replaced. However, it is very important that you purchase the correct spare motor for your microwave model.

Step-by-step guide to replacing a microwave turntable motor:

1: Unplug the microwave from the power supply.

2: Remove the glass turntable from inside the microwave.

3: Turn the microwave upside down being careful not to scratch or damage the exterior surfaces.

4: Once securely in position, locate and open the motor housing. You will need to remove the retaining screws.

5: Take some time to see how the motor fits and where the wires are located before unscrewing.

6: Fit the new motor and reconnect the wires. Check that it is connected in exactly the same way as the original.

7: Close the housing and refit the screws..

8: Turn the microwave upright and refit the glass turntable.

9: Plug in and test to ensure that the motor is working correctly.

If on inspection the cause of a fault is not immediately apparent you may require the assistance of a trained professional.
