Video Transcript: How to Change the Handle on a Washing Machine Door

    Welcome to BuySpares.

This video will show you how to change the handle on a washing machine door.

IMPORTANT: Before replacing a part in any electrical appliance, you must ensure that the appliance is first unplugged from the mains.

If the door won't open on your machine and the handle is loose then it may be broken and need replacing.

Remove the door and place it on a flat surface and remove the screws holding the two halves together. Carefully pull the two halves or prise them apart with a flat blade screwdriver. Take a photo as a reminder of the handles assembly, then remove the pin and take the old handle out.

Lift the spring and latch from the old handle and transfer them onto the new one. Check that the pin can pass through the middle of the assembled catch. Remove the pin and place the handle assembly into position, then carefully push the pin through to locate the handle in place.

Refit the door glass then reassemble the two halves of the door ensuring the hinge is in its correct position in the slots. Screw the door together before reattaching it to the machine and confirming that it closes correctly.
