IMPORTANT: BEFORE REPLACING A PART IN ANY ELECTRICAL APPLIANCE, YOU MUST ENSURE THAT THE APPLIANCE IS FIRST UNPLUGGED FROM THE MAINS.

Welcome to BuySpares, this video will show you how to change the brushroll and sole plate assembly on a Dyson DC04 vacuum cleaner.

As the parts of the appliance that come into contact with the floor, the soleplate and brushroll can be subject to a great deal of wear and damage from furniture.

Start by removing the canister from your Dyson, this will enable you to rest it on a flat surface more easily. Use a flathead screwdriver or coin to unlock the three fasteners on the sole plate, then lift the soleplate off.

The brushroll is held in place by the belt, so to release the brushroll use a screwdriver to firmly pull the belt back and off the motor spindle, the brushroll and belt can then be removed from the vacuum.

Place the new belt onto the motor spindle and push through the housing, then pass the brush roll through the belt and refit. Turn the brushroll a few times to align the belt and ensure it won't come off the spindle.

Attach the new soleplate by locating the tabs into the slots on the housing, then click it into place and lock the three fasteners, before finally reattaching the canister and cyclone assembly.
