IMPORTANT: BEFORE REPLACING A PART IN ANY ELECTRICAL APPLIANCE, YOU MUST ENSURE THAT THE APPLIANCE IS FIRST UNPLUGGED FROM THE MAINS.

Using a Phillips head screwdriver, carefully remove the panel from the back of the washing machine, although it is worth noting the location and dimensions of the panel may vary according to your brand of washing machine, but they are usually fairly similar.

You'll see the drum pulley, which is the large wheel on the back of the machine. If the belt needs to be removed from the pulley it can be levered and lifted off using the screwdriver.

To fit the new belt, first fit it around the motor pulley, which is near the bottom of the machine.

Then feed the belt around the drum pulley by rotating the pulley until the belt is in place all the way around.

The belt should now fit snugly and the pulley should spin freely.

Now the belt is in place, you can replace the back panel off the washing machine, making sure that it's securely screwed on.

Note: When removing the inspection cover for access to the belt it is worth remembering some of the edges of the covers can be very sharp.

Take care when removing and handling, as these edges can cause significant cuts, wear gloves if possible to prevent injury.

Use a washing machine cleaner to remove mould, bacteria and stop smells from building up
