Check the neutral from the plug through the cable through the switch to the motor, then the live, through the plug fuse, through the switch to the motor, and through the capacitor if fitted to the motor.

Tripping or blowing fuses: If your fuse board earth trips keeps cutting off, make sure no water got into the switch or electrics.

Look for signs of blackening on switches or damaged to the capacitor.

Motor Stalling or not starting: If the motor stops and buzzes or makes a loud buzz, and does not run examined or suspect the motor capacitor or motor brushes depending on the model.
