Fan wouldnt come off, so bent the old element to get it off, then on the new element cut the securing hole in half, to create a notch, and slipped that into place, without forcing the fan off.

You need to get the "genuine" oven element (approx [$]) I bought the cheaper one last time (approx £17)and it lasted only 6 months.

The element was an exact replacement for the original, so no problems from that score. However, the fan obscures the retaining screw so ended up putting a small cut out in the fan to get the screw out. there were 3 elements that fitted Bosch Ovens, 0ne was [$], another was [$]and mine was [$], just my luck. Can't comment on quality as the original lasted 6 years.

The on line guide was helpful in the decision to buy a fit it yourself product. In fact, using the top bracket on the element means removing the oven fan to get at it which in an old appliance(like mine!) is probably impossible. However, the element is held firmly by the bottom two brackets and the top one can be cut off with a small angle grinder. Some written instructions and guidelines on fitting would have been helpful.
