Video Transcript: Refurbishing or Maintaining a Tumble Dryer

Welcome to BuySpares, in this video we will show you how to maintain and refurbish a vented tumble dryer.

Important: before replacing a part in any electrical appliance, you must ensure that the appliance is first unplugged from the mains.

If you have a tumble dryer it is important to regularly clean the filter and replace it if damaged, this will keep the machine working efficiently.

However if you’ve had the tumble dryer for sometime it is likely to benefit from a little maintenance. This can help prolong the machines life and help reduce bills from both running and repairing your machine.

Start by cleaning all the airways of any fluff or lint build-up, use a vacuum cleaner to remove dust and fluff from the filters and their housings. Replace damaged filter screens.

Clear the vent duct, clean the vent hose and examine it to clear any debris, replace this if it is badly contaminated or shows damage from contact with the heater cover.

Remove the side panels to access the machine and remove excessive lint build up and again use a vacuum cleaner to remove any further debris.

Rotate the drum and check the belt for fraying or damage. Check the rear drum bearings for signs of wear and tear, and replace if necessary.

Check and replace any worn or damaged seals.

Reassemble your dryer and retest.
